We can provide Raku demonstrations and workshops where audiences can participate in the making process and watch the fascinating ritual of a Raku kiln firing.

Raku is a fun, exciting and unpredictable method of firing ceramics with unique and spontaneous results. Originating from Japan in the 16th century the word Raku means ‘Joy’ or ‘Happiness’ capturing the imagination and creating a celebratory event by engaging audiences of all ages and enthralling them with the magical transformation of materials through fire.



WORKSHOP 1
Participatory event & demonstration of raku kiln firing

Decorate a pre-made bisque fired/glazed pot.
Engage in the technical process by learning techniques from applying colour with raw glazes
to decorating using Japanese brushes.
See your pot emerge from the fire and take home
a personal, unique and individual piece of work.
